- A partner specializing in antitrust, consumer law, and market regulation, with extensive experience advising national and international companies in proceedings before the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office (FNE), the Competition Tribunal (TDLC), and the National Consumer Service (SERNAC). Before founding Salgado & O’Ryan, she developed her career at DLA Piper Chile, establishing herself as a leading expert in competition and trade policy. Previously, she coordinated the Mergers and Unilateral Abuse areas at the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office.
Sofía integrates legal, strategic, and reputational perspectives in the defense and prevention of competition risks, with a particular focus on the relationship between free competition, consumers, and new technologies.
- She advised a delivery platform in the investigation initiated by the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office regarding vertical restraints between digital platforms and partner restaurants, representing them before the Court for the Defense of Free Competition for the approval of an out-of-court settlement.
- She represented a ride-hailing company before the Supreme Court in an unfair competition lawsuit filed by taxi driver associations.
- She defended L’Oréal Chile in a class-action lawsuit filed by CONADECUS in civil courts.
- She advised Innergex on its acquisition of 100% of Aela Generación S.A. and Aela Energía SpA (332 MW in the Sarco, Cuel, and Aurora wind farms) for US$685.6 million, in the notification to the National Economic Prosecutor’s Office.
- She advised a leading cosmetics and beauty company in its defense before the National Anti-Corruption Council (CONAR) regarding allegedly misleading advertising.
- She assisted various multinational corporations in the implementation of multi-jurisdictional compliance and training programs on free competition.
